Thunder Bay, ON - Wiggins Pro-Ductions will be hosting Rock the Box: Boxing Day Bash, Thursday, December 26th at Black Pirates Pub (215 Red River Rd). The night will feature the holiday return of local rock bands, The Other Colour, and Maraday Park. Opening the show will be folk rock band, RM & the Honest Heart Collective, and post rock act, Android 16.

Since their formation in 2007, Stephen Gray (vocals), Taylor Perrault (guitar), AJ Astle (bass) and James Agostino (drums) of The Other Colour have been producing a melodious sound by blending sincere, emotional song writing with a definitive pop-rock sound. Their music is a result of exposure to a wide range of cultural and musical influences, resulting in the creation of songs with relevance, honesty, passion and integrity. Each member has a musical background, be it Lakehead University, Humber College or lead roles in musicals. This diverse element adds a unique flare to the band, quite frankly setting them apart from their contemporaries.

While continually writing and jamming, TOC have released two, five song EPs; 2010’s The Black EP, which features the fan favourite “Peacock Man”, and 2012’s The White EP, garnering much response in only it's first weeks of release. Both were co-produced by the band. This past summer members of TOC were involved in the Migliazza Production of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Jesus Christ Superstar. Both Astle and Perrault played key roles in the live band, while Gray took the lead roll as Jesus Christ.

The future is anything but black and white for The Other Colour, as they effortlessly continue to win over every crowd they play to. TOC have been invited to play alongside countless touring acts including Young Empires, The Arkells, Mariana's Trench, Faber Drive, Sweet Thing, Ill Scarlett, These Kids Wear Crowns, Greater Than Giants, Acres of Lions, Hello Operator, Kiros, and Everlea.

Doors open at 10pm. Cover is $5. Age of majority required.

Thunder Bay, ON – To kick off the holiday season, Wiggins Pro-Ductions will be hosting the HoHoHo Drag Show, Friday, December 13 at Black Pirates Pub (215 Red River Rd). The city’s top drag performers will be dashing, dancing, and prancing across the stage as they spread some holiday cheer in a fun and safe environment.

With the growing success of events like the annual Thunder Pride festival and now the Wig Wars this past fall, it’s important to keep the momentum going as we enter 2014. Still without an official venue to call their own in Thunder Bay, the LGBTQ community rely on drag shows as a way to come together, meet new people, and have a great time. “Drag shows are about going out and just being able to be yourself around people who accept you for you. The people who attend these events are the most open minded, accepting, and fun people I’ve ever met,” explains promoter, Jimmy Wiggins, “all they want to do is dance and have a good time with people who aren’t going to judge them for it. That’s always been the goal, to give people a party where they can be themselves”.

The night’s lineup includes reigning Wig Wars Queen and King, Paloma Marquez and Ivan Love, the reigning Queen and King of the North, Fantasia La Premiere and Will Ramya, as well as fan favorites, Portia, Busta Hymen, and Gieous. Hosting the show will be the lovely and talented, Miss Anna Fierce with DJ Fabulous Dave closing out the night.

As always, there will be a special audience Lip Sync For Your Life contest (fashioned after the popular reality show, RuPaul’s Drag Race), where people in the audience get a chance to battle it out against each other for fabulous prize packs from local businesses including Creation Body Piercing, Dolls With Toys and Kronic Glass Gallery.

Doors open at 10pm with show time at 11pm. Cover is $5 with age of majority required. For more information about what’s going on in the city’s LGBTQ community, visit Pride Thunder Bay.

WP will be teaming up with local campus radio station, LU Radio 102.7FM by setting up a booth at the show where patrons can have their photos taken with Metal Santa, who will be in full corpse paint, a style of black-and-white makeup, used mainly by black metal bands during live concerts and photo shoots. The makeup is used to make the musicians appear inhuman, corpse-like, or demonic. All funds raised from the photo booth will go to LU Radio who have been supporting the local music scene for over ten years. Sponsoring the event will be Scotia Waddell of Elegant Embodiments, known for her ghoulish and detailed makeup work at the annual Zombie Walk in Thunder Bay.

LU Radio is pleased to announce that the search for local musicians has begun! Local artists are being asked to submit demos of unique songs to LU Radio for inclusion in an upcoming local music compilation CD.

Thunder Bay’s only campus based community radio station recently began a contest to search for a title to an upcoming Thunder Bay compilation produced by the station. Deadline for name submissions is Monday, January 6th, 2014, with the name announcement to be made the following Monday, January 13th, 2014.

This is only step one of the creation of the aforementioned compilation. The next step will be a submission of the songs for the compilation themselves. The compilation will be created based on songs submitted by Thunder Bay area artists. The songs for the compilation will then be chosen by a committee of individuals who will be chosen by LU Radio management. These individuals will be comprised of local Thunder Bay music scene supporters. Once created, the compilation will be sent to campus and community radio stations across Canada to highlight the incredible talent in the Thunder Bay music scene. The compilation will also be used as a fundraiser to help fund LU Radio so that it can continue to support the local music scene as well as providing the Thunder Bay and Lakehead University communities with unique local programming and volunteer opportunities.

Musical submissions for the compilation are now open and will be accepted for consideration from any local musician: band or solo artist based on the following criteria:

1.The song must be an original, no covers will be accepted.

2.The song must be ‘officially’ unreleased either in physical or digital mode.

3.The artist must be willing to release all rights to the accepted version of the song, including not releasing the same version on an album themselves, for at least 3 years from time of compilation release.

Deadline for submissions is May 1st, 2014.

Artists selected to be included in the compilation release, as well as the artwork will be announced at a multi-venue fundraising event and celebration of the Thunder Bay Music Scene on Friday September 19th, 2014. This event, as well as the compilation will be co-presented by LU Radio, Wiggins Pro-Ductions and TB

For any questions, concerns or sponsorship inquiries, please email: or call Jason at 807-766-7260.

**NOTES: **

The artist may release a different version of the song, i.e. if the version on the compilation is acoustic, an electric version may be released.

The artists agree that, should they be chosen, their demo versions may be used as part of the extras or ‘perks’ for the release of the compilation.

We recommend .MP3 of at least 192k or higher, lossless .wav or .flac are all acceptable but not necessary, if you only have lower quality files, send them our way too!

Physical submissions may be sent via snail mail to:

LU Radio Attn: Compilation Submissions 955 Oliver Rd., Thunder Bay, ON, P7B 5E1

Or at the station itself: 707 Oliver Rd. Thunder Bay, ON P7B 2h8
